Great value, free and powerful

As a first-time user, I was really focused on finding a cost-effective solution. Fastlane fit the bill perfectly since it's completely free and open source. I used fastlane scan for testing and it integrated well with our existing setup. Getting started didn't cost a dime, which was a huge plus. The features were robust, offering a lot for zero investment. It felt like a really worthwhile discovery.

Fastlane match worked great

I used fastlane match for code signing. It set up provisioning profiles easily. Everything worked as described. Deployment was much smoother than before.

So easy to get started with Fastlane!

Oh my goodness, Fastlane is a lifesaver! I was struggling with app deployment, and then I found this. Setting up fastlane produce to create a new app was so simple. It saved me so much headache with Xcode integration. I will absolutely use it again for every project! Highly recommend to anyone in mobile development!

Reliable as always for app store upload

Another solid release using Fastlane. I've been using fastlane deliver for app store uploads for years now, and it's consistently reliable. This time, I also integrated fastlane frameit for screenshots, which I hadn't used before. It worked perfectly, just like my previous experiences. No surprises, which is exactly what you want when dealing with app releases. It continues to be my go-to tool for mobile devops.

Good for deployment, a few minor issues

I used fastlane gym for building our iOS app and fastlane deliver to upload it. The overall experience was quite positive; it definitely streamlined our release process. Installation was simple, and the default configurations got us going quickly. I did find the documentation for some of the more advanced features a bit dense, and it took some digging to find what I needed. Customer service isn't really a thing since it's open source, but the community help was decent. Worth it for the automation, just be prepared for some self-learning.

Automated release notes with Fastlane

I set up automated release notes with Fastlane for our new app version. The installation process was straightforward, following the docs on their site. Delivery, well, it's a software download so that was instant. I had a quick question about custom lane configuration, and their community forum had an answer within a few hours. The quality of the generated notes is good, easy to integrate into our workflow. It really saved us a lot of manual effort, much appreciated.

Hey, thinking about using fastlane for our CI/CD pipeline. Is it actually free to use all the main features, or are there hidden costs for like, enterprise stuff?

H Hannah M. 5 days ago
Yeah, it's totally free. No catch. You just install it like any other Ruby gem.

L Linda Gomez 2 days ago
Correct, it's open source under the MIT license. You get everything. No 'enterprise features' locked behind a paywall like some other tools.

Is fastlane still actively maintained? Don't want to adopt something that's gonna be dead in a year.

S Sean J. 2 weeks ago
Oh yeah, super active. It's owned by Google now, so it's not going anywhere. Updates come out pretty regularly.

Still maintained, definitely. And with big events like WWDC and Google I/O, they're usually pretty quick to update for new iOS/Android changes. Lots of community contributions too.

I'm thinking about using fastlane match for code signing. Is it really secure to put my certs on there, or should I be worried about private keys floating around?

D David F. 1 week ago
Match is designed to be secure. It encrypts your certs and profiles and stores them in a private git repo, so only authorized team members can access them. It's much better than sharing p12 files manually.

R Rachel Moore 1 week ago
It's generally considered very secure. The whole point is to avoid passing around physical files. Just make sure your git repo where match stores things is properly secured, like private and with good access control.

how does fastlane compare to like, circleci or bitrise? been using bitrise for a bit but it's getting expensive for our team size.

K Karen L. 3 weeks ago
Fastlane is more of a toolkit you integrate, while Bitrise is a full platform. Fastlane gives you a lot more control and customization if you know Ruby, but Bitrise is easier to set up initially.

R Rachel Hall 3 weeks ago
They're different beasts. Bitrise is hosted, fastlane you run yourself. So you save a lot on subscription fees with fastlane, but you manage the infrastructure. I use fastlane with Github Actions, works great and way cheaper than Bitrise for large projects.

Does fastlane work well with React Native? I've seen some guides but not sure how smooth the setup is for both iOS and Android.

A Amber Jackson 4 weeks ago
It definitely works with React Native! You basically use the same fastlane commands you would for native iOS/Android, just from your RN project.

D Danielle L. 4 weeks ago
Yeah, a lot of folks use it for RN. The tricky part can sometimes be getting the initial Xcode/Android Studio projects set up right, but once that's good, fastlane just runs on top of it. There are tons of tutorials specifically for RN projects too.
